
Thirty eight year old, Paul Richard Goodrich III of Chloe, WV has been arrested and charged with felony DUI 3rd offense following a 911 call by staff at Minnie Hamilton Health System. Following his arrest, the bond of Mr. Goodrich was set at $15,000 by Magistrate Richard Postalwait and the defendant is being held in the WV Central Regional Jail for trial. His preliminary hearing will be held December 22, 2025 at 10 a.m. in Magistrate Courtroom one.
In a complaint filed by Cpl. Brian E. Young in Calhoun Magistrate Court on the 17th of December 2025, the complaint stated that On Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at approximately 3:05 a.m. Cpl. Brian E Young was contacted by the WVSP dispatch in reference to a call from Calhoun County 911.
Dispatch stated that a nurse from Minnie Hamilton Hospital had called and stated that a vehicle had pulled into the driveway of the ER almost to the door and was blowing the horn and flashing lights and almost hit the building.
Cpl. Young proceeded to that location at a high rate of speed and took a statement from a witness who stated the driver, and the accused, Paul Goodrich, had pulled into the ER entrance in his Jeep blowing the horn and flashing his lights. When they went outside to speak with the accused, the accused told them that the car was being controlled by remote control. They stated the accused was driving and the sole occupant of the vehicle. The accused was then taken inside and placed in an exam room.
When this Cpl. Young arrived at approximately 4 a.m. he spoke with accused who stated an individual had “placed the device on his vehicle which was controlling the steering, the gas and the brakes. Cpl. Young then performed a field sobriety test on the accused. The accused was given the nystagmus eye test, lack of convergence test and the modified Romberg balance test to which he failed. The accused gave Cpl. Young verbal permission to go search his vehicle. During the search Young found a personal amount of marijuana inside the vehicle.
Cpl. Young returned to the hospital and waited for such time that the accused was medically cleared and placed him under arrest for DUI. A search of the criminal history for the accused showed convictions for 3rd offense DUI on 10/2/20 and DUI on 10/2/19.
