Richard Hosey, 88, of Grantsville, WV, passed away on December 13, 2025. He died at home peacefully surrounded by family after a battle with cancer.
He was born October 7, 1937, in Grantsville, WV, to the late former Ada Gibson “Nutter” and Hale Hosey.
Rick is survived by his son Charles Richard “Richie” Hosey and his wife Shirley of Grantsville; his daughter Debra Hosey “Debi” Williams and her husband Thomas of Florida; grandchildren Brittany, and Ernest; great-grandchildren Presley and Hayden; and half-sister Sonja.
Rick is preceded in death to his wife Margie Ellen “Midge” Hosey, his parents Ada and Hale, his sister Linda, half-brother Steve, and grandson Mitchell.
Rick served in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1958. He had a long fulfilling career in law enforcement and worked with the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department in Morgantown, WV. He was also the owner of several businesses in Morgantown before moving to Grantsville. His retirement came after working with the Calhoun County School District from 1989 to 1999.
Visitation will be held Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, 107 Market St., Grantsville. A service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Stump Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Carter officiating. The burial will immediately follow the service at Betts Cemetery. A repast will follow the burial at Victory Baptist Church.
