Reginald Leon “Reggie” Roberts Obituary

Reginald Leon “Reggie” Roberts, age 86, of Glenville, WV (Kanawha Drive Community), went home the night of Wednesday, December 24, 2025. It gives us great comfort and joy that he spent Christmas in heaven with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ along with our mom and his family.

He was born May 5, 1939, in Gilmer County, son of the late George Samuel and Sarah (Bell) Roberts. Reggie was a graduate of Tanner High School class of 1957. He was a member of Glenville First Baptist Church, although unable to attend for several years due to health.

He spent his working life in the oil & gas industry. He retired from a 20year career with Equitable Gas in 1981. Reggie and his brother-in-law, Bill Stalnaker, owned and operated their own oil & gas company for many years. After splitting their company upon reaching retirement age, he operated as Roberts Energy Corporation. He spent a period of time in the Army Reserves. Reggie was a man that never met a stranger. He would always speak to everyone, shake your hand, and was known to have a joke to tell. He had a love of music and got much enjoyment singing with his friends and family.

On June 26, 1959, Reggie was united in marriage to his best friend and greatest love, Rosalee (Hickman) Roberts, who he has missed dearly since her passing. He was a loving father of their two surviving daughters, Brenda Reedy and husband Dean of Manns Harbor, NC, and Sandy Wanstreet and husband Scott of Glenville, WV. Also surviving are four grandchildren that he was extremely proud of: Jessica Reedy and husband Nolan, Samantha Reedy and fiancée Teddy, Tyler Wanstreet and wife Adrianna, and Haley Drake and husband Hunter. He had one great-granddaughter that he adored, Bonnie Rose Wanstreet. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Ruth Roberts and Linda Dudley; and several nieces and nephews. We would like to mention special caregiver for both Reggie and Rose, Peggy Wentzell.

Along with his parents and wife, Reggie was preceded in death by four siblings: Bobby Gene Roberts, John Paul Roberts, infant sister Helen Louise Roberts, and infant sister Mary Virginia Roberts, five half-brothers and one half-sister, two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-laws, and two nephews.

A funeral will be conducted at Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., in Glenville, WV at 1:00pm on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, with Pastor Tony Conrad officiating. Burial will follow in the Meadow Lane Cemetery in Kanawha Drive Community. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday at the mortuary from 11:00am – 1:00pm.

Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., is honored to assist the family of Reginald “Reggie” Roberts with burial arrangements.
