Special Prosecutor Coffey Provides McCumbers Update

Following a request for an update on the Jacob McCumbers case which was bound over in the Circuit Court of Calhoun County; Special Prosecutor Elizabeth Coffey responded with the following statement regarding Charges against Mr. McCumbers of 50 counts – 61-08D-05(a) – Sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, custodian to a child.

“The case is boundover to circuit court and is awaiting the grand jury to convene. As you may know, the grand jury meets in secret, therefore we don’t release any information before that happens. This protects the integrity of the case. Also, given the nature of the charges, protecting the victim from the press is a priority here.”

More information will be posted on Ridgeview News as it becomes available.

  1. Why are we waiting on the grand jury? Didn’t they already convene which is why he was indicted? Please clarify for me if im wrong.
