TOWNOF GRANTSVILLE CLOSES OFFICE TO CUSTOMERS

Although no reasoning for the sign on the Town of Grantsville’s office has been provided, it is yet further evidence of the Town’s inability to conduct business in an appropriate manner for a government office. While check payments can be made in the Town drop box, those who pay cash, won’t be afforded a receipt without scheduling an appointment.

Monday night’s Town Council meeting, March 2, 2026, was not attended by Ridgeview News because of lack of notification, which is an on going problem for Ridgeview, as well as some of the council members from my understanding.

The agenda covered the typical council meeting agenda items with the exception of a statement made by Sgt. K.M. Williams to the council regarding the progress of the WV State Police on the investigation of the Fraudulent check.

Sgt. Williams spoke to Ridgeview News prior to the City Council meeting showing screen shots of the cashed check as well as the check bearing the same number that remains in the check book of the General fund account belonging to the Town of Grantsville. He further stated that his investigation had provided information regarding the person who cashed the check, proving that it was not a local person who committed the crime. The check was deposited into the checking account of the accused via an ATM. The ATM did provide a photograph of the person depositing the check. Sgt. Williams’ further investigation has lead to information that may help him get closer to an arrest.
