Connie Louise Smith, 67, of Grantsville, WV was called home by Almighty God on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Ruby Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Gassaway on September 29, 1958, Connie was the daughter of the late Edward “Don” and Lenora Goodrich Cottrill.
To know Connie was to know a woman whose heart was rooted in her family and her deep Christian faith. A devoted member of Louisa Chapel, she lived her life with a spirit of kindness and grace. For 22 years, she shared a life of love and devotion with her husband, Gary Smith. Together, they built a family that was Connie’s greatest pride and absolute joy.
Whether she was tending to her garden, canning the season’s harvest, or feeling the sand between her toes on a trip to the beach, Connie found beauty in the simple things. However, nothing compared to the light in her eyes when she was surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was their steady hand and their greatest supporter, leaving behind a legacy of love that will be felt for generations.
Her memory will be forever cherished by her husband, Gary; her sons, Eric Boone (Casey) and Christopher Boone; her stepdaughters, Nichole Miller (Jason) and Haley Archer (Charlie); She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Corey Boone (Erin) and Trenton Boone; her precious great-granddaughters, Lucille “Lucy” Boone and Emery Rogers; step-grandchildren Rylan, Emersyn, Bodin, and Aubryn; also her siblings, Janice Brannon, Sharon Boggs (John), Dennis Cottrill (Shelly), and Stanley Cottrill (Tresha). Brothers-in-law: Mike Smith (Phyllis) and Chuck Smith (Naomi) and sister-in-law: Paula Yoak (Alan) and several nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved greatly.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Lenora; her mother-in-law, Mitsuko, whom she loved dearly; other beloved family members: Vere Brannon, Denny Cottrill, Chris Mace, and Jeff Mace.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Connie’s life at 2:00 pm on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., 1440 Arnoldsburg Rd., Arnoldsburg, WV, with Rev.
