
Ida A. Sidwell, 85, of Elizabeth, West Virginia, passed away on April 7, 2026, at Elizabeth Care Center.
Born March 16th 1941 in Burning Springs, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Kelly and Dessel Lockhart.
Mrs. Sidwell was a devoted homemaker to her late husband, James “Frank” Sidwell, and a loving and dedicated mother to her daughters, Dorothy (Mike) Kelly and Karen Smith.
She will be remembered for her spirited personality, her fondness for humor, and the joy she found in making others laugh. She enjoyed tending to her flowers, attending yard sales with her daughter and grand daughters, and spending time with her beloved dog, Lucy, as well as her cats.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Noah, Howard, Harley, Burley, and Kelly Lockhart; and her sisters, Florance Sandy and Gay Lockhart.
She is survived by her daughters, Dorothy (Mike) Kelly and Karen Smith; her grandchildren, Jamie Patterson, Jeremy Patterson, Jessica Patterson, Mary Brooks, Yvonne Brandt, Clara Smith, and Dean Smith; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her brother, Francis Lockhart.
Visitation will be held at Matheny Whited Funeral Home, Elizabeth, West Virginia, on Sunday, April 12, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Danny Hopkins officiating.
Interment will follow at Rector Cemetery in Burning Springs, West Virginia.
