Cremation Group Relocating Offices Due to Growth

The Mid-Ohio Valley Cremation Society announces the official opening of their new offices on 1029 Market Street.

About the Mid-Ohio Valley Cremation Society:

MOVCS is an organization for individuals and family members seeking straightforward and affordable services. Families are increasingly choosing cremation for several key reasons:

Financial: Pre-registering for simple cremation with us can lead to significant savings compared to elaborate services offered by costly funeral homes.

Fewer Difficult Decisions: Our cremation packages are clear and easy to understand, unlike the often overwhelming array of options at a traditional funeral home. Our simplified services can be conveniently arranged online, providing a stress-free experience.

Convenience: With many families now living far apart, cremation offers greater flexibility in scheduling memorial gatherings at a time when everyone can attend.

Growth

The Mid-Ohio Valley Cremation Society (MOVCS), serves over 300 families on a yearly basis. According to 2025 numbers, MOVCS is the second largest registered funeral home in the Mid-Ohio Valley. “The Cremation Society opened doors in 2017. Over the last several years more and more families have turned to us as the final farewell form their loved one. We offer a simple and affordable alternative to traditional funeral homes,” stated Norm Bailey, MOVCS Administrator. Mr. Bailey joined the organization last October.

“The Mid-Ohio Valley Cremation Society is a direct service provider of cremation,” Bailey continued. “While we are a registered funeral home, we are not a full service funeral home that offers visitations, funeral services, and so forth. We strictly offer direct cremation only,” stated Bailey.

Cost: The cost of cremation at MOVCS is greatly reduced in comparison to many full service funeral homes. On average, the cost can be nearly half the cost of cremation services at a standard full service funeral home.

Nationwide Cremation Data – Over 60%

Nationwide, cremation has become the preferred disposition of remains, with the rate rising to 63.4% in 2025. This means nearly two-thirds of families and individuals now choose cremation over traditional burial. Furthermore, this trend is projected to continue, with the cremation rate expected to reach 82% by 2045.

Open House

June 17, 2026 The Cremation Society will hold an open house for the public from 2:00 to 3:00 PM. A private Hospice event will be held prior from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
