Rhonda Leigh (Thomas) Dotson, 66, of Newark, West Virginia, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on June 30, 2026, at Marietta Memorial Hospital – Main Campus.
Born on May 19, 1960, she was the daughter of the late Richard “Dick” and Lois (Moody) Thomas.
In addition to her parents, Rhonda was preceded in death by her brother, Alan Thomas, and her brother-in-law, Randy Dunn.
On May 18, 1990, Rhonda married the love of her life, Floyd “Grant” Dotson II. Together they shared 36 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on love, laughter, and family.
Left to cherish Rhonda’s memory are her devoted husband, Floyd “Grant” Dotson II; her loving sister, Pamela Dunn; her children, Selina (Steven) Salsbury, Sasha Carter, Drake (Alicia Dooley) Dotson, Taylor Dotson, and Drew (Amber) Dotson; her grandchildren, Brayden Salsbury, Landon Dotson, Michael Dotson, Chloe Salsbury, Pierce Dotson, Peyton Salsbury, Stevie (Miranda) Salsbury Jr., Stacey (Gerad) Salsbury, and Brandi Salsbury; her great-grandchildren, Aubreigh, Harley, and Fynnleigh; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many cherished friends.
Rhonda found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved shopping, tending to the beautiful flowers in her yard, and watching the birds she faithfully fed outside her home. Above all else, Rhonda cherished the time she spent with her family. She especially looked forward to the holidays when everyone could gather together, creating memories that will be treasured for years to come. One of her greatest joys was the family’s annual trip to Daytona Beach, a tradition she eagerly anticipated each year.
Rhonda was an avid NASCAR fan who rarely missed a race, and if she did, there was always a very good reason. She was a loyal fan of Dale Earnhardt Jr. and loved cheering him on throughout his racing career. Rhonda was also known for what her family affectionately called her “gift of luck.” Whether it was a board game or a hand of cards, she always seemed to find a way to win, bringing laughter, smiles, and a little friendly competition to every family gathering.
Rhonda’s kind heart, warm smile, infectious laugh, and unwavering love for her family touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
