Roger Lynn Sheppard, 60, of Elizabeth, West Virginia, passed away on August 15, 2026, at Charleston Area Medical Center.
Roger was born on December 25, 1965, to Lynn and Clarice Sheppard and grew up in Elizabeth, West Virginia.
Roger had a deep love for farming and was known as someone who was always willing to lend a helping hand to those around him. Whether he was working on the farm or helping someone in need, Roger found meaning in being there for others.
Above all, Roger cherished his family. He especially loved spending time with his granddaughter, Paisleigh Burwell, and treasured the memories they made together. His family brought him great joy and was always at the heart of his life.
Roger was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lottie Marie Sheppard.
He is survived by his children, Tara Sheppard (Shawn) and Samantha Sheppard; his adopted daughter, Alyssa Batten (Nathaniel); his grandchildren, Paisleigh Burwell and Carson Richard; and his lifelong friend, Wayne Young, with whom he shared many years of friendship, memories, and life. He also leaves behind extended family and many friends who will deeply miss him.
Roger will be remembered not only for the work of his hands, but also for the love in his heart. As a father, he gave his children a love that will remain with them for a lifetime. As a grandfather, he found a special kind of happiness in his grandchildren, especially in the precious moments he shared with Paisleigh. As a lifelong friend, he shared a bond with Wayne that stood the test of time.
Roger never hesitated to lend a helping hand to someone who needed him. His family and friends will carry his love, lessons, stories, and memory with them each day. Though his hands may no longer be here to help, the kindness he gave and the love he shared will continue through everyone fortunate enough to have known him.
Roger’s greatest legacy will always be the people he loved and the lives he made a little better simply by being there.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
Though Roger is no longer with us, his memory will live on through the family he loved, the friendships he treasured, and the many lives he touched throughout his journey.
