Betty Ann Hogue, 95, of Millstone, West Virginia, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 14, 2026, at the home of her daughter, Dawn, where she had been lovingly cared for by family for the past six years.
Betty was born December 19, 1930, in Seneca County, Ohio, to Chalmer and Mildred Whitman. Her 95 years of life were filled with hard work, family, simple pleasures, and countless memories.
Betty worked throughout her life as a CNA, waitress, and factory worker. She knew the value of hard work and found joy in the little things. She loved sitting on the porch listening to the birds, tending to her garden, watching sports, NASCAR, and her beloved soap operas. She had a special love for her pets and enjoyed her favorite treats—Twizzlers, Goetze Caramels, and fried chicken. Betty also loved shopping and could always find a reason to stop at a garage sale.
One of her familiar sayings was “If the good Lord willing and the creek don’t rise”. A phrase that reflected her faith, outlook, and approach to life.
Family was an important part of Betty’s life. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was blessed with 20 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren, leaving behind generations who will carry her love and memories forward.
She is survived by her children, Rex Mellott (Alana), Tevan Buck (Earl Gager), Encil Mellott (Robyn), Dawn Ramsey, Brett Mellott, and Robert Hogue; her sister, Marjorie Lake (Tom); and generations of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, along with many other family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
In her later years, Betty received the loving support of hospice nurses, whom she came to love and appreciate deeply. Their kindness and compassion brought comfort to Bettty and her family.
Betty leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, family, laughter, and an appreciation for life’s simple moments. Her 95 years gave her family a lifetime of stories and memories that will continue through the generations she leaves behind.
