
Harold L. Sims, 97, of Palestine, WV, passed away Friday, October 2, 2026, at Elizabeth Care Center in Elizabeth, WV.
He was born July 9, 1929, in Palestine, WV, a son of the late J. Bruce Sims and Ottie McCutcheon Sims. Harold attended Wirt County High School. Throughout his working years, he was employed by Bauman Farms and Huffman Transportation.
Harold enjoyed farming and spending time working at Sims Greenhouse. He was a member of Two Runs Baptist Church. Harold shared 74 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Ileana Sims, and together they built a life centered around their family.
He is survived by his children, Rodney D. Sims and close friend Debbie Wilson, Vicki K. (Joe) James, and Melanie L. (Timothy) Corbitt; his grandchildren, Jason (Shamae) Jones, Mandi (Shane) Lucas, Chase (Morgan) Corbitt, and Chelsea (Joe) Salisbury; his great-grandchildren, Gwendoly Jones, Tucker Corbitt, Evelyn Corbitt, Lawson Salisbury, and Coleson Salisbury; and his siblings, Benny (Joanna) Sims, Roy Sims, and Michael (Sharon) Sims.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ileana Sims; his brother, Ed Sims; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Sims and Lynn Sims; great-grandchild, Everly Rose Salisbury; and nephew, Randy Sims.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 6, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Matheny Whited Funeral Home in Elizabeth, WV, with funeral services to be held Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
