Before I turn in tonight, I want to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for protecting me, from me. All day I struggled with the thoughts of the election. My baby girl faced one of her biggest challenges in life and was the most professional, class act of a lady, and I could not be more prouder of her. It was not only a challenge for her, it was a challenge for her News Publisher Momma. I questioned God as to why Whitney didn’t win her election? For a split second I was angry, because nobody knows how much she did for Calhoun County in the short time she ran the County Clerk’s office. I learned so many lessons during her season as the best County Clerk that Calhoun County has ever had. And I mean that with the utmost pride and sincerity, because nobody puts the labor, commitment and honor into a job like my girl. But the thing about a person who lives by honor… the dishonorable don’t want them.
I don’t want my praise to be hypocritical (especially after I published the “Hypocrite’s Prayer” song this week. In brutal, painful honesty, it took me a minute to Praise God and mean it. I praised Him immediately. But I didn’t mean it. Oh I wanted God to know I knew He was in control, but I was so hurt. And then I thought about what she had been put through by the Republican Party the last few weeks, I wouldn’t treat an enemy like they did my daughter and called themselves “friend”. The scripture that came to my mind from Matthew 7:6
Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
That’s not a vindictive statement. That’s a real child of the living God trying to come to terms with very, very ugly people. When I turned to the Word of God, He reminded me that vengeance is His saith the Lord.
Romans 12:19
Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
I know and God knows what was done. And He can strike a blow far greater than me. But what also came to be was He reminded me of why I began the Ridgeview News. Again. It seems He has to do it quite often. A friend of mine sent me a painting of tree stump turned into house. Repurposed. I have had the privilege of God repurposing my life countless times. I am an example of Attention Deficit personality in every aspect of life. I am a writer, singer, songwriter, speaker, multi media artist, musician, reporter, and more. All of which God can use for His glory, if I let Him lead.
As I go to sleep I want to think on what is good. No space in my head do I want to be filled with ugliness. I just want to put my pearls in the box, and tell my girl to put her pearls back in the box where the swine can’t trample them, and rise above it all. Because God has a purpose for us and I can’t wait to see what it is and where it takes us. I’m not planning a “cruise,” but I am planning on delving deeper into some regional news.
Good Night Ridgeview readers. Don’t mistake silence for inactivity.
