Eric Lupardus is a Calhoun County Commissioner . He was raised on a farm in Roane County and has spent his life working in the oil and gas industry. He moved to Calhoun County in 2012 and quickly realized the business opportunity that exists here and started his own business. He felt that he could make a real change and ran for office in 2024. Since becoming a County Commissioner he has made great progress that will ultimately help provide opportunities for our children to grow up here and have the options to find work locally.
John Caldwell from the Spencer Police Department read to the children on Read to Me Day.

Joshua Higginbotham: Is the VP of WV Log Cabin Republicans. Joshua grew up on a farm in rural West Virginia as the youngest of four children and the son of a welder. No one in his immediate family had ever attended college and none had left his home town of Poca—until he decided to pursue his own American Dream. Over the years, Joshua has learned that hard work pays off. He’s always had an interest in politics and has been involved in the community from a very young age. He served as a Student Ambassador in six European countries at age 15, worked as a Page in the United States Senate at 16, was the President of West Virginia DECA and ran for their National President the same year, and he ran a successful campaign at age 19 to become the youngest Delegate in the West Virginia Legislature in 2016. Later, at age 22, he was chosen to be the youngest Economic Development Committee Chairman in West Virginia history, working on major legal & tax reforms, establishing charter schools & the Hope Scholarship, and bringing businesses to the Mountain State. According to Joshua, it is his mission to serve his fellow West Virginians to the best of his ability. He believes that together, we can inspire a new generation of leaders by reminding them that hard work pays off and success can be achieved—even if you come from West Virginia. Today, Joshua Higginbotham lives with his fiancé in Charleston with their dog Oliver. He owns a Government affairs & political consulting firm which is active in both state & federal politics, representing nonprofits, industry associations, and companies of all sizes. He is an Elder at Charleston’s First Presbyterian Church and is an active member of the Roane & Jackson County Chambers of Commerce.
