Brush Fire rampages through 50 Acres

The Volunteer Fire agencies for Calhoun County spent Wednesday evening into Thursday morning extinguishing a wild fire that burned approximately 50 acres.

The call came into Calhoun Control at around 3:59 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon that a wildfire had occurred in the area of 15029 South Calhoun Highway. With the high March winds, the fire jumped fire lines and continued from the area of Bee Fork to the Ridge above Crummies Creek. A rekindle was reported at 11:15 p.m.

Three local departments responded: Arnoldsburg, Grantsville and Upper West Fork, working until 1:30 a.m. to combat the fire and protect the area. The West Virginia Division of Forestry was also on scene to access the damages.
