Butler Appointed Calhoun County Clerk

An original meeting time of 9:00 a.m. was set today for the announcement, but after a brief delay, the Calhoun County Commission returned at 1:00 p.m. today, January 9th, 2026 to announce the appointment for Calhoun County Clerk, replacing recently resigning Clerk, Jean Simers. Commission President Eric Lupardus and Commissioner Lee Rush were present in person, with Commissioner Craig Arthur appearing by phone.

In a unanimous decision, Whitney Butler, of Arnoldsburg, West Virginia was appointed to fill the position until the November election results are determined. Mrs. Butler will have to file before January 31st, 2026 if she decides she wants elected to the position.

The County Commissioners have reached out to the Secretary of State’s Office to insure the transition of new County Clerk will have the support necessary for success.
