An original meeting time of 9:00 a.m. was set today for the announcement, but after a brief delay, the Calhoun County Commission returned at 1:00 p.m. today, January 9th, 2026 to announce the appointment for Calhoun County Clerk, replacing recently resigning Clerk, Jean Simers. Commission President Eric Lupardus and Commissioner Lee Rush were present in person, with Commissioner Craig Arthur appearing by phone.
In a unanimous decision, Whitney Butler, of Arnoldsburg, West Virginia was appointed to fill the position until the November election results are determined. Mrs. Butler will have to file before January 31st, 2026 if she decides she wants elected to the position.
The County Commissioners have reached out to the Secretary of State’s Office to insure the transition of new County Clerk will have the support necessary for success.
Her name is Jean Simers. Not “Jean Jimers” as who wrote on your website. Have some pride in yourself.

I wrote/typed “who” for a reason. It makes me look like an idoit. Yet, who’s trying to be a “So-called” journalist in Calhoun County? And then she tries to say I’m the bad guy. What about ALL of her articles with misspelled names/words, not to mention the horrible grammar on “Ridgeview News”? I’m not the only the person to say this. Again, take some pride in your work. Proofread before you send an article into space. The dumbest you make us look, the dumber we’ll be to the rest of the world. Where is AMC Medicines?

Too many “the”s
Using the word “the” too many times can making writing seem clunky or repetitive, however his comment doesn’t seem to reach that standard. Had he started every sentence or every other sentence with the word “the” you would have had grounds for complaint.
I got distracted during my last rant due to my Uncle Joe’s health issues. I meant to finish my rant with, “Glad your daughter got a job Shari. Have I made my point?

Shari Johnson barely has time to keep up with her own life right now. Caring for an elderly family member takes precedence over time to proofread every article. She started her online self- funded Ridgeview News because without it no one would know a thing in Calhoun except lies and gossip. Cut her some slack

If she’s gonna be a journalist then she should take the time to proofread every article. I’ll be generous in saying that 35% of being a good writer. Neither Tom Brokaw nor Stephen King would turn out sloppy work. Not taking time to check an article is about as bad as CNN which she claims to hate so much. Why is she putting herself on the level of news organizations that she doesn’t agree with?
It would take more time correcting the grammatical errors ect. than it did to write the article..
