The Calhoun Local Emergency Planning Committee met Tuesday, May 20th at the Calhoun FRN office in Grantsville. Members began the meeting discussing the need to get all local industry and emergency services to the table to establish greater awareness and safety in the face of possible future emergency situations.
Agencies to be contacted are:
- All Fire Departments
- Sheriff Graham Knight
- WV State Police
- OES and 911
- Calhoun Board of Education
- American Medicine Company
- WV Department of Highways
- Hope Gas
- Mid Ohio Valley Health Department
- Westfall’s Wrecker Service
- Carl and Chris Ballengee (Rescue)
These and other organization’s involvement is critical should an emergency in their field of expertise or business occur. Having a representative from every local agency will provide insight to what possible risks our county faces and what would be the plan of action necessary.
The Calhoun LEPC has been working toward a Hazard Vulnerability Analysis completion, Conducting Emergency Drill and insuring that all Tier II Reports are done which provide state, tribal, and local officials, and the public with specific information on potential hazards.
The group will continue to work on community outreach to raise awareness of what services the goals of the Calhoun LEPC for a safer and better educated community.
The next meeting will be June 17th, 2025, location to be announced.
