Calhoun MS Final Four Update

Submitted by Jessica Snodgress

Calhoun County Middle School Girls made it to the Final Four this past weekend in Braxton County. The first time back in 3 years. The girls had a rough night Friday night against Ravenswood, losing, causing the CMS Lady Red Devils to play Saturday for 3rd and 4th place. They played George Washington and had a good lead at the half 23-16. Unfortunately, the second half had many fouls called on Calhoun allowing GW to catch back up in the score by making their foul shots. A very intense game and unfortunately the Lady Red Devils came up short 30-27. Do not let this deter from the Lady Red Devils Season having one of the best seasons in many years. Before tournament play the girls were 14-3 with two of the losses to the same team, a very good Summersville. The girls finished in 4th place out of the whole conference and ended the season with a 15 and 5 record.

3 of your CMS Lady Red Devil 8th graders had a phenomenal season. All 3 of these ladies scoring over 100 points on the season. Awarded at the tournament, Whitney Rogers was selected as All Tournament and Josie Richards and Kendall Snodgress were chosen as All Conference. The whole team had a victorious season and played very well together as a team.

Kendall Snodgress was selected for the Foul Shot Competition during the Tournament on Saturday. 21 girls from all different schools in the conference competed. The girls had 15 shots. Kendall made 11 her first round advancing her to the 2nd round. She made 9 the second round, placing her 4th out of the 21 girls.

Congratulations ladies on an amazing season! It was an honor to watch you!
