The Calhoun Republican Executive Committee sponsored a Saturday Night Concert with Frank Conn and the Partners along with a Meet the Candidate Night for three of the county’s Candidates at the Upper West Fork Park.
During intermission the three candidates shared their platform and allowed the community to ask questions.
Randy Wilson questioned Craig Arthur regarding the current lack of employment opportunities, especially for those post retirement who still need to work to survive. Craig responded by saying that he would be addressing employment across the board for all ages. Calhoun needs a representative that will take the time to travel to Charleston and garner support for our County, believing that the squeaky wheel gets the oil.
Mr. Wilson also stated that the County is “being run the same way it was 160 years ago” and requested to know Craig’s intentions for running it differently. Craig noted that “the problems we have are not a political party problem. This county has been ran by an elite group of people that didn’t want input from the citizens. I want to sit down at the table and hear the input. These are problems we all share, and everyone’s input will be heard. We will solve these problems together. The days of certain people trying to solve problems are over with me.”
Many of Republican Executive Committee members attended the event and provided information to those in attendance. The Republican Executive Committee events are not just for Republicans but for all members of the community, so they can get to know the candidates who might represent them.
