Creston News

Rev. Kevin Gillespie filled his regular appointment at the Burning Springs M. E. Church.

Jack Boggs, age 83, of Creston passed away after a long illness.  He was the son of T. R. & Della Boggs.

Some folks in the Creston area have been having difficulties with their internet “service”.  The folks out on Monroe Ridge were advised that they would have to wait until next month for any repair service.  One woman who lives in Creston was told by the repairman that she had “too much service” and that she should buy a more expensive plan.  Aside from satellite dishes all that is available is what the Wild Frontier Telephone Company offers.  Seems that the high speed good stuff is only for others.  Anyone at the PSC paying any attention?

The local area received some snow Friday afternoon and some local highways were treated with salt.  Some bridges appeared to be slick.  Speaking of highways it seems when one asks about fixing slips & slides or filling big mudholes the answer is always, “Oh, we ain’t got no money.”  Such obviously is not the case because on Friday a contract company was out cutting healthy trees along a scenic stretch along a scenic byway.  Now, surely there were no “finders fees”, were they?

Work continues with the gas line along W. Va. 5 at Burning Springs.

Bart Schumacher reported that a new species of mussel [for the Little Kanawha] was found when the folks did their inspection for “endangered” species in preparation for the replacement of the bridge across the river at Creston.

After selling W. Va. out for the “green new deal” Broadway Joe is now out & about campaigning for reelection in 2024 talking of all sorts of “great wonders” such as the New Pioneers and keeping open [for now] a Kroger store in Braxton County. Apparently not all the members of his family are multimillionaires yet so he needs another 6 years wheeling & dealing on his yacht [houseboat]. down in the lower Potomac swamps.

Local folks whose scholars attend the Christian school at Brooksville were told that the Hope scholarships were not for them.  Now, isn’t that nice?

The “wunderkid” who did have a cryptocurrency exchange that is now kaput and who “lost” $billions belonging to others was big in political circles at the “highest” levels.  When Maxine Waters was asked if she was going to give back the money [something about $40 million] she noted that some Republicans got some too.  It appears that Kevin McCarthy got some to deep six Republican candidates that were not approved by the Uniparty & the globalists.  Madison Cawthorne was kicked out because he told about the drug parties — that was a NO NO for just like Vegas, what happens in DC must stay in DC.  The peasants are not to know what the ruling class does.  One would hope that Lauren Boebert & Marjorie Taylor Green [MTG] are in his face every day. Mitch McConnell whose wife owns a Chinese shipping company has made it clear that this idea of putting America first is just now how the ruling class does things.

Newly elected county commissioner John Griffin attended training at Bridgeport and was able to network with newbies from other counties.

Folks are getting ready for the local annual madness known as firearms deer season.  Game cameras show plenty of doe deer & bear along with an occasional buck and a bobcat now & then. Folks have been coming in from Ohio towing trailers with side by sides.

Folks from Annamoriah, Creston & Freeport attended the W. Va. Farm Bureau annual meeting at Wheeling.  It was noted that the price of diesel might hit $9/gallon before the end of the year [low water in the Mississippi, you know] even though there is a refinery in Hancock County [Congo] and another at Catlettsburg Kentucky and there is plenty of water in the Ohio. The price of lambs has fallen from $2.50 to $1/lb. for reasons that are not clear and various laws, including California Prop 12 are outright attacks on agriculture.  The rulers make it clear that ordinary folks should eat insects [global warming you know] and that there are too many of us suggesting that the world population should go from 8 billion to 500 million.  Now the globalists have made it clear that we all must have the vaccine passport just like is done in China.

A new thing that folks have to be careful about are “carbon sequestration contracts” where one is paid to not harvest timber [ever]. One needs to be very careful when dealing with these charlatans and likely the best way is to show them the door.

It was reported that there are only 27 dairy farms left in West Virginia.  Some local folks were forced to close when there was no way to get their milk to market.  The milk price is set by “the wise ones” down in the swamps of the lower Potomac and, you know, cows are bad.  They like sheep, goats & deer are ruminants and they [oh horrors of horror] burp a little methane because of the fermentation in the rumen. An outfit called Mountaintop Beverage is building a 330,000 sq. ft. building near Morgantown to process milk and other beverages.  It seems that even in Wisconsin Borden is shutting down facilities and there is nowhere to sell milk that meets government standards.  This new facility will utilize UTH [ultra high temperature] to flash pasteurize milk so that it does not have to be kept cool.  It is said that such is the case in other parts of the world now.  The spokesman said he hoped that many more dairies would open in West Virginia and other states nearby.  The facility is, apparently, partly funded by the USDA [the taxpayers] and is to supply milk for schools and food banks.  To start there will be 250 jobs at the facility.

The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude dropped to $79.08/bbl. with condensate fetching just $63.08/bbl. while Marcellus & Utica light was $70.08 & medium $79.08/bbl.
