Rev. Kevin Gillespie filled his regular appointment at the Burning Springs M. E. Church.
The government mandated fast time [so called daylight savings] came to an end. Perhaps reasonable legislators will place it on the ash heap of history.

Beautiful weather continues to be the norm at Creston. Back when such was called Indian summer. On November 1 there were still flowers on some hot pepper plants.
The Wirt road crew is repairing base failures on the Ann’s Run road. The other day a dump truck from DOH Heavy Maintenance broke down near the head of Beaver Dam & had to be towed.

The Little Kanawha River bridge in Creston has become a major topic for discussion. In addition to the hole in the floor, pictures taken under the span and photographs of he beams cause considerable concern for those who routinely cross the span.
Early voting has set records locally, as elsewhere. The Big Eared One has made it clear that he wants his fourth term. Presently it is clear to all that neither #1 nor #2 are running the country at present.
The state of West Virginia announced that October tax revenues fell far below estimates. Income tax revenue was less reflecting the economic malaise impacting most of the nation. Also way down was natural gas & oil severance taxes. There are two reasons, first reporting & payment are on the “honor System” and surely now of these folks would not cheat. After all they made big donations to the “correct” people, especially those who made sure that the meters & records are never checked. Then there are the very low natural gas prices for West Virginia. The Henry Hub [Louisiana] price is $2.31 but gas sold in W. Va. Is mostly less than one half of that. Some folks made sure that almost none of the natural gas is used in West Virginia to make things. Hey, they say, let’s be an energy colony so wealth can be generated elsewhere. Obviously our ruling kleptocrats are fine with that.
While electric use has remained more or less static now for some years (economic doldrums) now with AI and data centers there is a doubling of demand for “juice” and it has been determined that “Pixie Dust” just doesn’t make it happen.
Alvie Ferrell was visiting Joe Ferrell out on the Umstead.
There has been talk about the proposal before the PSC to replace gas taps on Hope Gas & Diversified Gas & OIl lines in several counties including Wirt & Calhoun. The companies said they would pay to install propane or electric as a replacement. Then there was a proposal floated to plug marginal gas wells. It could be that the real plan is to abandon all the old gas gathering lines leaving no way to market gas from traditional gas & oil wells. Folks need to be very careful.
A recent paper in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science reported that only a small percent of the methane in the atmosphere comes from leaks in the production of natural gas and crude oil. This, of course, is not part of the agenda but such is life. The bulk of the methane is from natural sources such as ocean vents and wetlands. Wetlands are [and should be] protected since they are sinks for waste, promote biodiversity, and serve as the home for all sorts of plants & animals, some of which are very tasty.
Some local folks were invited to some election parties but there wasn’t much excitement about such.
Several Creston residents participated in the Halloween festivities in Elizabeth.
The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude oil is $68.49/bbl. With condensate fetching just $50.49/bbl. While Marcellus & Utica light brought $57.49/bbl. Prices had been up because of the activities of Iran but, apparently, the Mullahs are waiting until after election day in hopes that Kackles wins.
