There will be Bingo at the Creston Community Building on Saturday, February 7 with the doors & kitchen opening at noon and games starting at 1 P. M. Come to Creston and have some winter fun.
Gary Michael Ferrell, age 57, died suddenly on January 8. The son of Budgy Ferrell, he had a construction business and had the bid to replace the roof on the Creston Community Building. His son indicated that the business would continue and that contracted jobs would be done.
The hole on the dePue end of the Creston bridge where the expansion joint was supposed to be has gotten worse requiring that vehicles need to almost come to a stop. Apparently Engineer Evans’s Core Maintenance manual does not mandate fixing problems on main roads when money can be made by some trimming tree tops. Folks who live in Braxton County noted that the trees along the roadways in their area now look awful and that millings were sold to the connected rather than being put on backroads that had potholes. Those who travel I-77 will note that there was a new paving job down in Kanawha County on I-77 and at the north end of a bridge on the northbound there was a dip sign reflecting a dip there in the highway. Well, wouldn’t you know, during the paving job they paved the dip back into the new surface. Those folks down at Building 5 “have it together”.
The Creston area got some snow flurries
Some local folks came down with some of the flu type sicknesses.
Did you ever want to be a West Virginia State Senator? Sen. Donna Boley, who has been having health problems resigned after 41 years & her position is open. Residents of Wirt, Pleasants & Ritchie Counties can apply by contacting Josh Holstein, W. Va. State Republican Chairman next week. The local senatorial committee comprised of two people from Wirt, Wood, Pleasants & Ritchie Counties will choose three names that will be sent to the governor to fill the position. You can make a difference.
Starting on January 12 one can file to run for office, school board, county executive committees, county commissioners, delegates, state senators, congressmen, U. S. Senator, Supreme Court judge, etc. County offices can be done in the county clerk’s office but the others must be one in the W. Va. Secretary of State’s office down under the golden dome. Remember the legislature will be in session so one will have to park at the football field and ride the shuttle bus to Building One. The last day is January 31.
Some local folks motored down to the Mouth of the Elk for the winter meeting of the Republican State Executive Committee. The folks from Jefferson County had their act together and the plan to reopen the Republican primary was squelched. There has been a problem with liberal democrats changing their registration pretending to be what they are now and never were. Even Broadway Joe Manchin is playing that game. His buddy the coal baronet apparently his real trouble with the IRS this time [like no fooling, it’s for real] & then it was learned that dictator Maduro, currently vacationing in a federal lockup had given the governor some cash. One might wonder for why. Because of resignations and retirements there may be many positions to run for in at least one county.
Up in Minnesota the rioters are unhappy that fraud & illegal aliens have been found out and one of the paid organizers did dumb stuff and found out. Now the communist flags are out and some of the fellow travelers have even decided to make noise Down at the Mouth of the Elk. Seems a fellow who now lives in China has been hiring many of the ‘protesters’. There are lots of various and obvious reasons why it is better to live in rural areas where the rabble rousers dare not tread.
The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude edged up to $58.12/bbl. With condensate bringing $40.12/bbl. And Marcellus & Utica light fetching $47.12/bbl. It was also reported that the price of natural gas took a big hit.
Vickery Energy Partners has purchased Tribune Resources, a company that has old leases and some new wells in Tyler, Wetzel, Doddridge & Harrison counties.
On Christmas Eve the postal system announced that the dates on letters may not reflect the actual date the items were mailed. This is critical when one is mailing tax returns, absentee ballots, applications to run for office, etc. This means that folks must come to the post office and have the postmaster or clerk hand cancel the items. The Brooksville post office and some other local facilities are friendly and work with folks. Elsewhere might be another matter.
