It is now the annual “unique time” known as firearms deer season. Lots of folks have come from mostly far [but some near] to look to harvest the wily bucks. The W. Va. DNR downplayed the terrible disease that killed at least 80% of the deer on the other side of the Ohio River and, for sure, killed a high percentage of the Creston area deer. One fellow got his picture on the world wide web as he took his deer rifle out to hunt squirrels, no doubt, where he had no permission and some well described pick up trucks were identified as they went where they had no authority. Some folks noted that they had “warm welcomes” prepared if the upstanding citizens returned. There were lots of sounds of “guns being sighted in”.
Blanche Stutler, age 96, widow of Ralph Stutler, died November 15 in Barberton Ohio. She was a sister of Bessie Arthur & daughter of B. F. (Frankie) & Lorena Pearl Bennett Headley.
Local residents went to the Thanksgiving meal at the Extended Care Unit at the Minnie Hamilton Health Care facility.
Some local folks motored to Cambridge Ohio to see the “Dickens Characters” Christmas decorations that line the main drag through the town.
The other day a local canine “got loose” and decided to give chase to Bambi. When the formerly well groomed canine returned it was discovered that he was covered with ticks. A big fat tick was also found on a local tom cat so folks need to check their pets for ectoparasites. Some of the ticks carry bad diseases with one that makes folks sick when they eat red meat. It is called, Alpha Gal syndrome. Bill Gates and the green weenies want to infect folks so they cannot eat meat “to save the planet”. The peasants [us] are to eat bugs while the elite [Gates, Al gore Jr. John Kerry] eat only the best steak [River Bend Ranch].
Speaking of “saving the planet” the big global warming conference (where the biggies all fly in in their private jets) down in Brazil had ‘some problems’. One of the buildings caught fire & thousands had to be evacuated and the roof leaked causing the anointed ones to “get anointed” with torrential rains [it was in the tropics] and then the power went out. Closer to home ,the green weenies in Ohio are now fighting “Fossil Fuels, Fracking and Data Centers, Oh Never”. For some years electric use had been “flat” reflecting the removal of manufacturing from America and a general economic malaise. Now with the return of factories and especially AI Data centers that will be “the reason” if there are blackouts this winter as there almost were last winter during the very cold snap. It would not be PC to say that the windmills and solar panels couldn’t deliver and shutting down coal plants without a replacement other than pixie dust was just dumb. Elsewhere in the electric power system there is the problem of “ghost” data centers that require upgrades that cost regular rate payers [homeowners] for facilities that are never built]. A similar event happened with Claywood Park Water system a few years ack when a much hyped facility that required major investments from the water utility didn’t happen.
One local woman was told by her physician that she was ‘borderline diabetic’ and then he dropped the hammer on her, “No more pasta & bread.” She is trying to deal with her new situation.
The United States Post Office announced that the rates for packages and special services would go up 7% or so. The government agency stated that the Post Office lost another $9 billion last year. They could fire the layers of dead wood bureaucrats but that would actually solve a problem that some want to continue. Some local folks have had problems with lost mail including certified letters that were sent elsewhere.
Rusty Hutson Jr’s Diversified Gas & Oil, the owner of thousands of wells in W. Va. & surrounding states, announced a profit of $166 million for the third quarter. Hutson reported that now 41% of his hydrocarbons came from shale wells. Maybee with the firm making more money they can answer letters that folks send them concerning non-payments, etc.
Mr. & Mrs. Chris Stutler and family are spending some time in and around Creston.
There has been no new information locally concerning the governor’s proposal to do away with the refunds for taxes paid on vehicles. Stay tuned.
The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude oil fell to $57.06/bbl. With condensate [super mountain high test] fetching only $39.06/bbl. And Marcellus & Utica light bringing only $46.06/bbl. Natural gas elsewhere is worth $4.47/MMBTU or almost four times the local price.
The Creston Community Christmas party is December 20 at 3 P. M. It was reported that a famous fellow from the polar region might visit the local area.
