Several Creston residents attended & participated in Pioneer Day in Elizabeth.

The local area continues to have beautiful fall weather with sunshiny days and lots of flowers. Leaves have not yet turned to their vibrant fall colors. When traveling along the roads deer seem scarce but squirrels seem to like to play chicken with passing motorists. There is an abundance of mast so they must all feel frisky. The Japanese stilt grass needs to be cut down or pulled up soon so it does not seed. The invasive pest puts toxins in the soil that impact native plants.
Some local folks have been on the puny list. Jack & Debbie Griffin were calling on Dr. Dan Cain & Debbie was also calling on Dr. George in Parkersburg.
Carolyn J. (Carol) Starcher, age 63, of Oil City Pennsylvania passed away September 19. She was the daughter of Wilm Maze Starcher & the late Bobby Ray Starcher. She helped her dad with the auctions they had at the Creston Community Building. Her cousin Cleveland Starcher let local folks know about her death which was unexpected.
Some Creston area women were calling at Mom’s Place Too in Grantsville.
The truck bed that ended up in the West Fork just above Creston on the Ann’s Run Road has not yet been removed. The next high water will take it downstream where it might create problems.

Enron, a/k/a EOG or Enron Oil & Gas, now has over 1 million acres of Utica leases in Ohio and has solved the puzzle about extracting oil from the oil window of the Utica shale which is also under West Virginia. The firm is now going to establish a regional office near Columbus.
Royal Dutch Shell which is associated with the Rothschild family and had been “going green” now is facing reality and is big in LNG (liquified natural gas). The firm indicates that demand for LNG is to increase by 60%.
Out in California, the land of fruits & nuts, it was reported that a $2.2 billion solar operation is to shut down. After all it was only taxpayer money and the grifters now have their cut.
First Energy, known locally as Mon Power and to the east as Potomac Edison announced the firm wants a 12,000 megawatt gas fired power plant in West Virginia. The operational goal is 2031.
Enverus, a data analytical firm, reported that the breakeven price for crude oil from new shale wells is $70/bbl. But the price now for some time has been in the $60 range. For a time gasolene was as low at $2.52 but now the price has gone up.
The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude oil was $59.88/bbl. With condensate fetching just $41.88/bbl. Or less that $1/gallon while Marcellus & Utica light was $48.88/bbl.
