In a complaint filed in the Magistrate Court of Ron White (Filling in for Magistrate Postalwait), Deputy H.M. Stephens Stated that on October 1st, 2025 at approximately 3:50 p.m., she had observed a side-by-side buggy in the parking lot of Gino’s in Grantsville, doing “donuts”. As the Deputy went enroute to the parking lot, Calhoun Control advised that they had received a call about a gray Ranger buggy in the Gino’s parking lot. Control advised that the buggy was heading down Route 5 where Deputy Stephens made contact with the buggy and its male driver, later identified as Bryan Joseph Duskey.
Mr. Duskey pulled the buggy over just before the DHHR turnoff on East Little Kanawha Highway. Deputy Stephens had the patrol lights initiated pulling in behind the buggy at which time she observed the male look over his shoulder at her. Duskey then spun his tires, kicking gravel into the patrol car windshield, and fled down Route 5.
Deputy Stephens pursued, reaching speeds of nearly 85 mph. The buggy turned onto Bull River Run abruptly, nearly causing her to hit the ditch line in an effort to pursue. The pursuit continued at a high rate of speed down Bull River, onto White Pine, Slab Fork, and eventually onto Fingerboard Road. Duskey stopped the buggy multiple times, refusing to comply with the Deputy’s commands to put the buggy in park and exit, and repeatedly sped off again, spinning gravel at her windshield. Chief Deputy C.R. Stephens joined the pursuit and caught up with Duskey on Fingerhoard Road where he had to make physical contact between his cruiser and the buggy in order to stop it.
Duskey continued not to comply with commands to exit and was escorted to the ground and placed under arrest.
Inside the buggy, officers observed multiple alcoholic beverages and Chief Deputy C.R. Stephens noted the aroma of alcohol emitting from his person. Deputy H.M. Stephens observed that – Duskey had slurred speech and watery, bloodshot eyes. Duskey submitted to an intoximeter, which recorded a .286 BrAC.
These crimes occurred within the geographical boundaries of Calhoun County, WV.
Duskey was arraigned before Magistrate Ron White and taken to the WV Central Regional Jail. His bond was set at $50,000 for count 1 – Fleeing with reckless indifference and count 2 – Fleeing DUI. His preliminary hearing is scheduled October 7, 2025 at 1 p.m. in the Magistrate Court room before Magistrate White.
