Lloyd Dwayne Drake has been charged by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department with Possession with intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance.
In a complaint filed in the Calhoun County Magistrate Court, Deputy H.M. Stephens stated that on Friday, December 12, 2025 at approximately 8:24 p.m. she, Deputy C.R. Stephens and Sheriff Graham Knight were attempting to locate a wanted person arriving at 49 Mayapple Lane. They were greeted by resident Donald Drake, who advised that the fugitive was not in the residence. Mr. Drake consented to us entering the house to search for said fugitive. Deputy H.M. Stephens went into a bedroom located in the back of the residence and observed a blue canvas bag sitting in plain view on the bed. The bag was open on the top allowing the Deputy to clearly see a glass jar containing a green leafy substance consistent with marijuana. She also observed that it contained a jar, as well as three labeled, quart size ziplock bags containing the same green leafy substance and a scale. On the bed next to the bag was also a cylinder containing the same substance. Deputy H.M. Stephens seized the bag and the cylinder and took it into the living room. Donald Drake denied that the bag belonged to him and stated that the bedroom belonged to his brother Dwayne, who was seated at the kitchen table.
Dwayne, later identified as Lloyd Dwayne Drake, admitted that the bag and marijuana belonged to him. An additional labeled ziplock bag was on the table in front of him, containing the same green leafy substance. Present in the residence were Lloyd Drake, Donald Drake, and a female. After leaving the residence, the officers executed a traffic stop on an ATV approximately 1 mile from Mayapple Lane. The two
passengers of the ATV advised that they were traveling to Donnie’s house on Mayapple. When Chief Deputy Stephens
advised that “there’s no fun there” because the marijuana had just been confiscated, the two individuals went quiet,
then the female stated “what?”
Following his arrest, Lloyd Dwayne Drake was released on a $5,000 property/surety bond. A Preliminary Hearing date has been scheduled for April 21, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. before Magistrate Lora Davis.
