I was attending the First Baptist Church Praise on the Porch event in Grantsville, which had just begun, when the news agencies began to announce that an attempt on former President Trump’s life had been made at a Butler, Pennsylvania Presidential Rally. Our Pastor, Ron Chesser, immediately led us in prayer for President Trump as well as our nation. It was reminiscent for me when President Ronald Reagan was shot in 1981 by John Hinkley. It rocks your world in that any security we had of being safe is gone, and you realize how very vulnerable we are in America.
Many of our national leaders on all sides have called for prayer and in the coming days it should be a matter of prayer for all of us that the attention needs to be on what matters, which is the President and other victims and their families, not used to promote political agendas.
Posting on his Truth Social media site about two and a half hours after the shooting, Trump said a bullet “pierced the upper part of my right ear.”
“I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin,” he said in the post. “Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening.”
Ridgeview News is sending a heartfelt prayer for President Trump, his family and staff, as well as the other victims.
