Deputy H.M. Stephens of the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department filed a complaint in the Magistrate office of Lora Davis on Larry Harold on August 22nd, 2025. Deputy H.M. Stephens stated that she met with Wirt County Deputy Marant on March 11, 2025 in regard to a sexual abuse case involving 13 year-old minor. Deputy Marant provided Stephens with documents from his investigation and explained that the minor had disclosed to her medical provider that she had been sexually touched approximately 5 years ago by her mother’s then-boyfriend, Larry Harold. Deputy Marant scheduled 2 forensic interviews with the minor during which she explained that Larry Harold had lived with her, her mother, and her brother in a camper in Calhoun County (later determined to be on Camp Run). She disclosed to her interviewer that Harold had touched her and attempted to have sex with her which had been unsuccessful. She disclosed that Harold had touched her on multiple occasions and that the first time happened when she was 7 years old. During the interviews, the minor’s posture, voice inflections, and lack of eye contact indicated that she was very uncomfortable discussing Larry Harold and the incident, as well as uncomfortable speaking about the body parts that had been touched and that she required a pen and paper to write it on.
In the weeks that followed Deputy Marant’s transfer of the investigation to Deputy H.M. Stephens, Stephens spoke with the minor who reiterated the same description and details of how Larry had touched her, kissed her and attempted to have sex with her. He stopped the attempt when the minor screamed. These same details were relayed to the medical provider stating that she had been abused when she was 6 or 7 years of age.
Deputy Stephens interviewed Larry Harold who denied any physical contact with the minor during the time he lived with her mother.
According to documents received by Deputy Stephens from the WVSP, Larry Harold was dating the victim’s mother approximately 8 months during 2020, when the abuse is suspected to have occurred.
Larry Harold is currently being held in the WV Central Regional Jail on the Charge of “Sexual Abuse 1st Degree” with a bond of $75,000. He is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
