Hunter Arrested for Domestic Battery

On Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at approximately 9:36 p.m., the Corporal DC Moore was advised of a fight in the area of 147 Hays Street in Arnoldsburg, WV. The complainant called
again shortly after and advised that one of the parties had left and returned with what she believed may have been a knife.

When Cpl. Moore arrived in the area he found the defendant, Paul Hunter walking down Hays Street with a flashlight, and a handle from a car jack. Mr Hunter advised that he had just got jumped at his house by his aunt, and her ex-husband. Mr Hunter said he was in the back of his residence and they showed up and shortly thereafter a fight ensued.

His aunt advised that they arrived at the residence, and Mr Hunter was causing trouble. She said that Mr Hunter had pushed her ex-husband, who then swung his cane at Mr Hunter, causing a fight to ensue. During the incident she said that Mr Hunter swung at her ex-husband and struck her in the nose. The victims stated that they had originally gone to the residence because Mr. Hunter’s brother called her and told her that he was causing trouble at the house and they needed to help his mother. Mr. Hunter’s brother advised that he defended his mom and dad, Wavelene and Gilfford against Mr Hunter, because they were in their 70s.

Paul Hunter was taken into custody and charged with two counts of Domestic Battery. He was taken to the WV Central Regional Jail where he is currently being held on an $8,000 bond.
