Jackie “Jack” L. Moore Obituary

Jackie “Jack” L. Moore, 83 of Glenville, WV; departed this earthly life in the early morning hours of Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at the WV Caring Hospice House in Elkins, WV; following an extended illness.

He was born August 17, 1941 in Cedarville, WV; son of the late Bill and Erma (Pritt) Moore.

Jack is a graduate of Glenville High School, class of 1959 and was the former Owner/Operator of the Blue Ribbon Restaurant in Glenville. He then transitioned into law enforcement, having worked as an officer for the city of Glenville, then campus security for Glenville State College, where he retired with 25 years’ experience.

He is a Baptist by faith and attended church at the Little Kanawha Independent Baptist Church in Burnsville. In his spare time, Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time outdoors, watch sports on TV, supporting his children and grandchildren with their sporting adventures, spending time with family and friends, and spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren whenever possible.

On August 31, 1962 Jackie was united in marriage to Elizabeth “Liz” (Kennedy) Moore, who preceded him in death on October 5, 2015.

Surviving is his loving son Timothy “Tim” Moore and wife Elaine of Grantsville, WV; 3 grandchildren, Zachary T. Moore and wife Keenie of Lewisburg, WV; Luke I. Moore and wife Lacey of Elizabeth, WV; and Grace Vincent of Glenville, and 2 siblings, Bryan Moore and wife Debbie of Webster Springs, WV; and Janie Foster of Weston, WV.

Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, cousin, and many other wonderful family and friends.

Along with his wife and parents, Jackie is preceded in death by 3 siblings, Annalea Greenlief, Merlin “Hump” Moore, and Edmund G. “Ed” Moore.

A funeral service will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV; 26351 at 1:00 PM; Saturday, October 19, 2024 with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Burial will follow in the Rhoades Cemetery near Glenville. Friends will be received from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM; Saturday at the Mortuary in Glenville.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to West Virginia Caring Hospice, PO Box 323, Burnsville, WV; 26335 in honor of Jack.

The family would also like to take this opportunity to give a special thanks to the staff at WV Caring, especially, Kim Harris, Kim Garrison, Chris Loudin, Roberta Kuhl, Ginny Underwood, and Pastor Elizabeth Lewis. Your compassion and care for Jack and his family will never be forgotten.
