Jerry W. Basnett, 80, of Grantsville, WV went home to be with the Lord on January 6, 2025, at his home.
He was born September 27, 1944, in Kanawha County, WV, a son of the late Fred and Bessie Carpenter Basnett. He was a Correction Officer until he retired in 2009.
Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Bessie Metz Basnett and two children, Shannon and Michael Robert’s of Glouster, Ohio and Warren Basnett of Grantsville, WV; three grandchildren, Christopher and Amber Allen of Beaufort, SC, Taylor Basnett (fiancé Ashton Davis) of Parkersburg, WV, and Mackenzie Basnett of Grantsville, WV; two sisters, Gloria Vannoy of Grantsville, WV and Sue (Jim) Arthur of Mt. Zion, WV; two brothers, Fred Basnett, Jr. (Barb) of Grantsville, WV and Roger Basnett of Grantsville, WV; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother William Basnett.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, January 12, 2025, at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., Grantsville, WV, at 3:00 p.m. with Pastors Brian Arthur and Matt Sanders officiating.
