Jimmie Dale “Jim” Helmick, 71, of Millstone, WV, passed away peacefully in his home on January 3, 2025. He was born on October 18th, 1953 to the late Roy “Jr.” and Ona (Norman) Helmick of Milo, WV.
Jim was always hard at work, whether for his career, his own projects, or those for others in the community. He moved to Orrville, Ohio at a young age, where he began working at Quality Casting, was an independent truck driver, then worked for Kenmore Construction of Akron, Ohio.
Jim was in the Labor Union, a member of Local 18 Operating Engineers out of Ohio, as well as the International Operating Engineers, including Lockhart Construction, Price-Gregory, Michaels, Brian Miller, Precision, and Hinkel and McCoy and many others, until his retirement in 2015.
Jim is survived by his wife, Dawn; his daughters, Erin (Jonathan) Dudley, of Jacksonville, Florida, Hannah Burris, of Millstone, WV, and Ava Helmick, of Grantsville, WV; his grandchildren, Annaleigh, Jonathan “Bubba”, and Judah of Jacksonville, Florida; and sister Janet (Jack) Marks of Arnoldsburg, WV, nieces, nephews, and cousins, along with many good friends, who will greatly miss him.
Preceding him in death are Jim’s parents, Roy “Jr.” and Ona (Norman) Helmick and brother, John William Norman of West Virginia.
A funeral service will be held January 11, 2025 at 2:00 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., Arnoldsburg, West Virginia, officiated by Rev. Robert Shannon and Pastor Shelly Mace. Visitation will be Saturday, January 11, 2025, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the Norman Family Cemetery of Beech, WV.
