GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State Volleyball head coach Kris Kern has announced the hiring of Kiersten Eggleton as an assistant coach with the program for the upcoming 2026 season.

Eggleton, a native of St. Albans, W.Va., played at West Virginia State from 2020-2024, including three seasons for Coach Kern. She enjoyed a successful playing career for the Yellow Jackets, earning All-MEC Honorable Mention in 2021, All-MEC First Team in 2022, All-MEC Second Team in 2023 and MEC Player of the Year in 2024 while also being All-Atlantic Region Second Team in ’24.

“Even before I accepted the position here, I reached out to Kiersten, hoping she’d want to help and, thankfully, she was on board right away,” said coach Kern.

The 2024 graduate of WVSU won four regular season conference championships and an MEC Tournament championship, also appearing in the NCAA DII Atlantic Regional Tournament three times. She was an MEC All-Tournament selection in 2023 and 2024, as well as Atlantic Regional All-Tournament Team in ’24. Eggleton was a three-time team captain, is the program’s all-time winningest player and is on the school’s all-time lists for:

  • Sets Played (1st)
  • Matches Played (1st)
  • Triple-Doubles (1st)
  • Service Aces (2nd)
  • Serve Receive % (2nd)
  • Digs (10th)

Eggleton has earned a plethora of coaching experience through the Mountain Monster’s Volleyball Club, where she was the head coach of the 16U team in 2021-22 and HC of the 18U team in 2022-23. She was also an assistant coach of the 16U team in 2024-25. Eggleton has created connections in West Virginia and Ohio through private lessons, clinics and camps as well.

“Kiersten is the most focused, driven, competitive player and her knowledge, fierceness and desire will show the way for our players from day 1. Kiersten is a home run hire for us. She knows the sport inside and out and will be invaluable to me and this program,” finished Kern.

Kern and Eggleton will get their first look at the Pioneers in action during the spring portion of their schedule next month. The 2026 season will officially begin in late August.
