Calhoun Lady Red Devils hosted Roane County for their season opener on Friday Night, December 2nd. Their hard fought game was filled with few opportunities due to the full court pressure from Roane County. Roane County understood the talented threat of senior Jocelyn Yeager, who has the height and skill to play to win. It was no doubt with that in mind that she was fully guarded throughout the game leaving her little opportunity to score. Even with the pressure on, Calhoun held their own for the first half with Roane County missing far more shots than they made. The halftime score was Roane 16, Calhoun 11.
The second half, Calhoun did not fair so well in scoring but it was not for lack of trying. The Lady Devils kept the ball moving, made the shots they could but Roane’s continued defensive playing prevented the opportunity they needed. Final score of the game was Roane 49, Calhoun 21
Calhoun Lady Red Devils will travel to Doddridge on Tuesday for their second game of the season.
