Late Score Costs Calhoun Middle School Softball Against George Washington

Calhoun Middle School Softball lost the lead late in an 11-5 defeat to George Washington on Wednesday. The game was tied at five with GW batting in the bottom of the fifth grounded out, scoring one run.
In the first inning, Calhoun got their offense started when Raylee Cunningham doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run. After Calhoun scored one run in the top of the fourth, GW answered with one of their own. Calhoun scored when Remedy Riddel doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run. GW answered with a single on the first pitch, scoring one run. GW scored five runs in the sixth inning.

Remedy Riddel led in the pitcher’s circle for the Calhoun Red Devils. The righthander went six innings, allowing 11 runs on 13 hits and striking out eight batters on the night.

Calhoun tallied ten hits on the day. Gabi Smith, Raylee Cunningham, Remedy Riddel and Addie Collins collected multiple hits for the Lady Devils. Gabi went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Calhoun in hits. Kyla Myer led the way with two stolen bases.
