I am Laura McGinnis, and I am running for the House of Delegates, District 62, for Calhoun, Clay, and most of Gilmer Counties. I am a professional horsewoman as well as a Stampin’ Up demonstrator. I reside on our family farm in Clay County.
I am running because I feel like there is a lack of representation in Charleston for our communities which I would like to see restored. As a multi-year vendor at the local Farmer’s Market in Calhoun, I was aware of the difficulties many of our neighbors faced because of the growing government overreach problem. As I discuss situations with friends and even my own family, I can see that the simple hope of “leaving your kids with a better life” is simply a dream, and not a certainty. While the government’s job is not to instill hope, or to create wealth, it’s single job IS to ensure our freedoms to do so, and when its dirty hand is forever in our business and our wallets, it IS NOT doing its job.
I am for smaller government (as a reality, and not just in theory), more control by The People, less waste and unchallenged government spending, and fewer restrictions on our peoples’ efforts to build their lives, care for their families, and branch out their businesses. I want to see innovation from people who are free to explore their own passions and interests.
Please consider me as your Republican nominee for the District 62 House of Delegates in May, and let’s turn some money-changers’ tables over in January!
