As the waters broke over the banks of the Little Kanawha and headed toward the campus of Avalon hearts began to sink, thinking of the possible clean up to come. But not only for the campus area, but also from the West Fork, Arnoldsburg, Russett, Route 5’s east and West there are people in the line of flooding, homes at risk and a lot of work ahead. Staff and volunteers have moved the major things out and await to see how far the water come.
Below are photo’s taken throughout the day by Ridgeview News and if anyone would like to add to the album you can tag or send the photos to me on social media or email.
It’s not the area’s first rodeo with flooding, and there have certainly been worse experiences in the past. The graph below gives a listing of flood information and historic crests as well as the low levels of the Little Kanawha in Grantsville.
