This Week’s Circuit Court Cases before Judge Anita Harold Ashley

Judge Anita Harold Ashley held Circuit Court on Thursday, April 11, 2024 for three criminal cases pretrials and several juvenile cases.

Ryan and Ellio Hardman, charged with Gross Neglect Of Child Creating Risk Of Injury Or Death,  appeared with their Attorney John Balenovich and Daniel Minardi. The case had been set for trial during the Calhoun County Wood Festival dates and out of concern for trial interruptions the trial was rescheduled for August 20th, 2024 at 9:00 a.m., with a July 18th Pretrial  at 11:30 a.m.

David and Dylan Little also appeared before Judge Ashley for a Pretrial. The two were facing the charges of Transferring Stolen Goods and scheduled for Jury trial next week. Due to a misunderstanding of trial dates, Attorney David Richardson stated that he was not prepared to move forward and that he had continued to receive discovery from the State, even as late as today. Attorney Daniel Minardi who is also council from one of the Little’s did not object to the continuance. The recent disclosure of seven State witnesses by Prosecutor Michael Hicks, and a jail call log that exceed 1,000 calls was making it difficult for the attorney’s to prepare their case. Attorney Richardson, speaking  to the Judge, stated that this was a 2022 case where discovery had been provided by then Prosecutor Nigel Jeffries, case was continued until August 20th at 9 a.m. for trial.
