Milton “Bill” Smith Griffith

April 21, 1937 – July 2, 2023

Milton Smith “Bill” Griffith, 86 of St Ann, MO, formerly of Spencer, WV, and Sebastian, FL, passed from the arms of his wife of 64 years, Helen Ruth Griffith, into the arms of his loving Savior, on the evening of Sunday July 2, 2023.  Born April 21, 1937, in Looneyville, WV, son of the late Lemuel Smith Griffith and Bernice Octavia Boggs Griffith.

Bill was preceded in death by his three brothers, Ross Jerome, Monzel Hugh, and Kenneth Wayne, and three sisters-in-law, Mary, Helen, and Luie.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Ruth Griffith, sister-in-law, Jennie Griffith of Spencer, three sons, Gregory Scott of LaGrange, GA, Mark Alan (Dorothy) of Spencer, WV, and Monte Eric (Kelly) of Overland, MO, 13 Grandchildren, Heather, Jacob (Bell), Meagan, Alex, Zackary, Gwynaeth, Christopher, Mathias, Gabriel, Esther, James, Amy (TJ), and Stephanie, 7 great-grandchildren, and his beloved dog, Libby.

Soon after graduating from Spencer High School, he went to work at Spencer Business Forms, later becoming a partner in the business. Staying with the company until his health forced him to retire in 2000. He was a member of the 130th Airlift Wing of the WV Air National Guard, Air Police Operations having served 8 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Spencer. After moving to Jackson Co., he transferred his membership to the Parchment Valley Baptist Church, Ripley. While living in Sebastian, FL, he attended the 1st Baptist Church of Wabasso. He was a member of the Linden Lodge, No. 83 A.F & A.M, having joined April 1959. He was a member of Linden OES. He joined the Spencer Lions Club in Jan. 1962, going up the ranks, becoming District Governor 2000-2001. After moving to Jackson County, he transferred to the Ravenswood Lions Club.

Celebration of life will be held on Aug. 26, at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, WV. Visitation begins at 12:30 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m.
