On Monday, September 25th, 2024, at around 3:35 p.m., shortly after Calhoun Middle School dismissed, Hugh Dale of Spencer, WV passed the Kwik Stop Convenience Store traveling North on South Calhoun Highway in the 7000 block and then lost control of his truck, clearing a path through the edge of the lawn of Peggy Layne, taking out 5 mailboxes, post, and and a flower bed before coming to a stop. With the high traffic area during that time, Mr. Dale is very lucky that he wasn’t involved in a much more serious accident.
Sgt. C.J. Weekley was the investigating officer on the scene. No citations were given.
