Norma Jean Knotts Shaffer, 86, passed peacefully in her home in the early hours of July 22nd, 2024.
She was born on August 28th, 1937, to Robert Joseph Knotts, Jr. and Hazel Virginia (Collins) Knotts of Grantsville, WV who also had two sons, James Earl Knotts and Thomas Mark Knotts.
Norma was married to Joe Shaffer with whom she had five children: Sharon Lynn, Norma Jean, Carol Anne, Robert Carr, and Roberta Jo. Norma also had seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and two generations of nieces and nephews.
Norma lived a full life with many experiences across several professions including printing and publishing, data processing & nursing. She had exceptional computer skills she used for photography restoration and digitalization as well as creating computerized genealogy records. She had a life-long passion for sewing & quilting. She could often be found at her sewing machine in her final years. She had a deep love for history, was a long-time member of the Calhoun County Historical Society and served as co-editor of the Hur Herald.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two children, Carol and Robert.
Visitation will be held from 10 am to noon at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., Grantsville, WV, on Saturday, July 27th, 2024, 10 a.m. to Noon, with service following at 12:00 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Calhoun County Historical Society or the Calhoun County Library.
