Prayer Breakfast at Calhoun Middle High School Today – “Off to a Good Start”

Students, Parents, Grandparents, Faculty and Community met in the Commons area for a light breakfast and a heavy heart for the youth of Calhoun County as the 2022/23 School year begins next week. Bob Bailey opened the meeting by encouraging those in attendance about the privilege of being at the school for the purpose of covering the school year in prayer.

Superintendent Kelli Whytsell spoke regarding her own faith, and how it had played into the struggling times the school often faces, at which time she and others rely on the Lord Jesus Christ to guide them and keep the students safe. She said that her church had created backpacks to provide for some students and those had been prayed over as a church body, but that she believed that prayer was needed every day, ”because we want our students to have the very best in education and to feel the presence of God.”

Principal David Gaul made of a list of ”stations”, meaning areas of the school to pray for, so that all departments, students and faculty were prayed for. Pastor Steven Carter, prayed for the opening of the meeting and then the group split into two separate prayer groups to pray for the events inside and outside the school.

A prayer meeting will be held monthly for anyone who wants to join in the volunteer effort. The prayers will take place prior to home games and the next school prayer will be September 17th with the doors open at 9 a.m. and breakfast at 9:30 with prayer to follow. Everyone is invited to attend.
