Prosecutor Nigel Jeffries Resigns Effective August 18

Prosecutor Nigel Jeffries, who was elected in 2020, has tendered his resignation to the Calhoun County Commission.

His letter stated:

It is with a heavy heart that I tender my resignation effective August 18, 2023. My wife has accepted new employment, which requires us to move from the area.

It has been an honor to serve the citizens of Calhoun County. It has, furthermore, been a distinct pleasure to have worked alongside the dedicated law enforcement officers of the West Virginia State Police and Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department.

I am grateful for the friendships I have made in Calhoun County and for the kindness shown to my wife and I.

Nigel Jeffries, Prosecuting Attorney

As far as Ridgeview News is concerned, the shoes of Nigel Jeffries will be hard to fill, but we are hopeful. Jeffries was hands down one of the most honorable and highly motivated Prosecutors. His office has been quick to respond for information requests and always available to answer questions. As for the most important part of his job, the Prosecution of criminal cases, his skill and confidence served Calhoun county very well. Although I have expressed my dislike of his departure, we wish he and his wife the best on their new adventure.

  1. It saddens me to see Prosecutor Jeffries leave
his position in Calhoun County. He has always been fair and just. He worked tirelessly and skillfully to fulfill his duties as Prosecutor. He worked closely with the public, taking their concerns seriously. I will miss him. I’m in agreement with Shari, his shoes will be hard to fill. I wish him and his family all the best.
