
Ricky Lee “Rick” Townsend, 64 of Sand Fork, WV; departed this earthly life suddenly on the morning of Friday, November 21, 2025 at his residence.
He was born April 20, 1961 in Cox’s Mills, WV; son of Dorthy (Losh) Townsend of Sand Fork and the late Bobby Joe Townsend.
During his 64 years, Rick was a timber cutter and done many other miscellaneous jobs throughout his life. Growing up, Rick loved to hunt, fish, and working in the garden alongside his dad in the summer time. He played sports in school and enjoyed hanging out with old friends. Rick likes to take old toys and other objects and make them look new by painting, engraving, and restoring them.
Rick was a Baptist by faith and a member of the New Found Freedom Baptist Church. Rick enjoyed doing work for the church and was proud to be called a member. The last job he helped with was building and placing a new sign for the location near Glenville.
Surviving are 6 children, Julie Burgess (Anthony) of Chesapeake, VA; Ricky Townsend Jr., Crystal Bellman (Daniel), and Brandon Anglin, all of Ohio, Daniel Lynn and Alec Townsend of Weston, WV; and 5 siblings, Connie Stewart (Lloyd “Fuzz”) of Glenville, Donna Jones Green Waverly, TN; Mary Pastva (Tom) of Sand Fork, Bobby Wayne Townsend of Sand Fork, and Rodney Townsend of Glenville, WV.
Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other wonderful family and friends.
Along with his father, (Bobby Joe), Rick is preceded in death by a sister, Brenda Townsend.
Rick’s request for cremation has been honored and a celebration of his life will be conducted on December 27, 2025 at 1:00 PM. More details about the service will be posted in early December.
