
Roberta Kay Nicholson Lamp, lovingly known as “Bert,” passed away on April 11, 2025, in her hometown of Grantsville, West Virginia, at the age of 54. Born on June 12, 1970, in Grantsville, Bert spent her life rooted in the community she cherished so deeply.
Bert is survived by her beloved children, Jessica Metz and Michael Metz; her cherished grandchildren, Bailey Metz, Edward Burrows, Kyla Burrows, Gunner Burrows, and Colesyn Burrows; her devoted mother, Flossie McDonald; her sister, Leica Goodrich; her brother, Tommy Nicholson; and her half-brothers, Nick Nicholson and Shannon Nicholson. She was preceded in death by her father, Bobby Nicholson.
A woman of great compassion and generosity, Bert dedicated much of her life to serving others through her work at the Calhoun Family Resource Network (FRN). Her passion for giving back and uplifting those around her was evident in everything she did—often offering kind words, warm smiles, and heartfelt encouragement to everyone she encountered.
Bert’s journey of strength and resilience was marked by her recovery milestone on October 29, 2020, a testament to her unwavering spirit and determination.
Family and friends celebrated Bert’s life on Friday, April 18, 2025, at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, 107 Market St., Grantsville, WV, with Melissa Cunningham officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with funeral service beginning at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Hunt Cemetery, Big Bend, WV.
