W. Harrison Schenerlein IV & sister Rea were visiting their grandparents in Creston.  Their mother Jane attended the Wirt County Fair pageant where all past queens were recognized. Harrison checked out the four wheeler & the side by side & Rea spent quality time with her favorite person.

J. P. & A. C. Marks & Steve Loudin were among those calling at the Creston Space Dock.

Wilburt Jennings “Bill” Lowe, age 94, of Little Hoc king passed away.  He was a veteran of the Korean War and was the son of Scott & Linda Lowe who lived on the West Fork.

Mary Pauline Patterson, age 87, of Mineral Wells passed away.  She was the daughter of Johnny & Clara Criss.

The Roane County road crew did a professional job patching the road going from Ground Hog down Tom’s Run to Spring Creek.

It was reported that the State of Colorado now requires new gas stoves to have warning labels such are found on cigarette packs.

The Wirt road crew mowed W. Va. 5 down near Elizabeth and now the roadway looks decent after mowing down all the vegetation that had been sprayed with herbicides to perhaps “meet quotas” for “Core Maintenance”, a manual that was not handed to Moses on a high mountain.

Rusty Hutson Jr.’s big trucks were plugging oil wells to “prevent natural gas [methane] from polluting the atmosphere down on Sycamore using taxpayer funds.  The big trucks broke down a bridge [by state road terminology defined as a small structure] forcing the road to be closed.  For some reason the sign shop didn’t put up Road Closed” signs so folks got to learn about it on their own.

Freddie Bush & associates were putting up hay in the Creston area.  There had been the rainy spell along with equipment break downs and such.  Peanut put up some fine second cutting hay.

A big helicopter flew over Creston the other day.

The W. Va. State Auditor is having a training session for county commissioners & administrators at Canaan Valley State Park.

Denise Bunner’s great nephew Andrew Satterfield won the heavy weight fight against Christopher Lovejoy in a second round TKO at the Caribbean Clash in Miami.  He trains at the Dawghouse Gym in Parkersburg owned by Mike Shepard the World Wide Kick Box Champion. The action can be watched on U Tube.

Watson Shephard won the pretty baby contest at the Wirt County Fair.  He quite often visits in Creston.  Several Creston folks participated in and attended the fair which had no rain.

The Creston food handler class scheduled for August 21 has been cancelled/postponed.  Stay tuned.

Dave  Goodrich took out a telephone pole on W. Va. 5 the other day.

A log trucker from Spencer had a tire blow out which took out the adjacent tire.  He was able to limp into the parking lot at Shade Tree, a restaurant he had visited years prior.  He had to wait 3 hours for help to arrive.

Production reports for Marcellus & Utica producers show an increase of 1BCF/day of natural gas.  That is billion with a B.  Antero reported that the Denver based firm makes 200 million barrels of NGLs (natural gas liquids) each day.  The firm has made it clear that they do not want to pay royalties on these goodies.

The W. Va. Equivalent of the deep state is not happy that Randy Smith is president of the W. Va. State Senate “since Mr. Tarr was supposed to have been”.  Their candidate was out working to replace Sen. Mike Azinger because he didn’t “play ball”. Folks should pay close attention because people in other states are for sure.

National Fuel Gas has announced a pipeline to supply the power plant for the proposed data centers in Shippingport, Pennsylvania.  Meanwhile, down at the Mouth of the Elk a man has been chosen to review possible sites for data centers in West Virginia.  It was noted he would be “starting from scratch”.

The EPA [Environmental Protection Agency] announced a delay on the onerous requirements called Quad O by the prior administration and now the green weenies are bringing suit.  Meanwhile in third world countries methane is flared or vented to produce crude oil and Dictator Xi builds a coal fired power plant each week.  Two new peak usages of power were recorded and the green weenies still want to shut down operating power plants even though it seems that Pixie dust hasn’t been working very well.

It has been obvious that the oil price has been dictated by actions on the world scene even though Creston oil is Pennsylvania grade that is not used (except for part) as a motor fuel but used for high dollar products.  Recently local producers could not sell their oil as all the tanks were full and the barges were not loading oil.  This happened back during the “great oil shortage” under Jimmy Carter when the tanks were all full, ships full of oil were anchored offshore and folks were relegated to odds & evens and other crazy stuff.

The Spencer newspapers, long owned by the Hedges family, sold out and it was reported that Oil Haulers sold to another firm.

The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude was $62.88/bbl. With condensate fetching just $44.88/bbl. And Marcellus & Utica light bringing $51.88.  The NYMEX price for September gas was just $2.932/MMBTU which in inflated dollars and considering that local natural gas sells for less small operators are, as the bank man said, “Are making money in reverse.”
