Sonny Lowers Obituary

Sonny Lowers, 86, of Orma, WV, went to be with the Lord on November 16, 2024. He was born on October 1st, 1938, to the late Henry and Geraldine Lowers, in Clover Ridge, West Virginia. The legacy he leaves behind is one of courage, compassion and unwavering dedication to service. Sonny devoted his life to helping others in the medical field. He served in several fire and EMS departments throughout his career. His commitment to his community was evident in his daily efforts to provide care and support to those in need. Whether he was responding to emergencies or mentoring young responders. Sonny’s passion for making a difference was truly inspiring.

Sonny leaves behind his five children: Sheila (Duncan) Williams of Rockingham, NC, Dee (Ralph) Thomas of Canton, OH, Brenda (Chaz) Minner of Canton, OH, Lissa (Jack) McCoy of Summerville, WV, Michelle (Josh) Gaydos of Orma, WV; eight grandchildren: Shawn (Sarah) Arbuckle, Angelique (Kyle) Wilkens, Tiffany (Bryan) Driscoll, Desiree (Levi) Hawk, Dustin (Marissa) McCoy, Bree (Isaac) Biggs, Jocey Cutshall and Colton Cutshall, who will carry forward his legacy of kindness and strength. He was also survived by dear best friend and companion, Queenie, who shared countless moments of joy and companion with him.

Although Sonny was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings who instilled in him the values he carried throughout his life, Sonny lost the love of his life of over 30 years, Nina Carolyn Lane in September 2024. Sonny lived his life for music and had a remarkable ability to inspire so many people through the power of a melody or lyrics. He was a singer songwriter and guitarist for many bands, the most recent being “Country Line Rewinded”. In his music he mentored many and encouraged everyone to find their passion. Sonny will forever be remembered as “Dad, Pop, or Grandpa” to anyone who knew him. The lives he touched are a testament to the incredible man he was. Sonny never met a stranger and was loved by all.

A funeral service will be held at Stump Funeral Home & Cremation, Inc., Arnoldsburg, WV, on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. with Thomas Tallman, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be from 11 AM to 1 PM Thursday. Interment will immediately follow in Clover Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.stumpfuneralhomes.com
