Calhoun County Commissioners, Craig Arthur and Kevin Helmick met in the Little Courtroom this morning at 9:00 a.m. for the purpose of considering the appointment of a Commissioner to replace Matt Walker. Candidates under consideration were Eric Lupardus, Roger Propst and Dennis Spaur who were the three recommended by the Calhoun County Republican Executive Committee for consideration.
Commission President Craig Arthur made a motion to appoint Eric Lupardus, but the motion died for lack of a second. After a long pause, Kevin Helmick told those in attendance that he had promised to speak with someone prior to making a selection and had not had the opportunity to do so. He was confident he would have a nominee to strike during the final process on November 3rd, 2023.
At that time, the 15 days will have expired at which time Kevin Helmick will have the first strike being the senior commissioner and Craig Arthur will have the second strike. The last man standing will be the next Calhoun County Commissioner to fill that role until a new Commissioner is elected during the 2024 election process.
Another item of business was the acceptance of a resignation by Water Board member Eric Cain for the Pleasant Hill Public Service District which passed affirmatively by both Commissioners.
The next Calhoun County Commission meeting will be 9:00 a.m. on the 3rd of November, 2023.
