Turner Arrested for DUI2nd and Driving Revoked

On Monday, February 5th, 2024, at approximately 7:00 p.m., Calhoun County dispatch was notified that Adam Michael Turner, was threatening to kill himself and harassing his mother at Orma, Calhoun County, WV. Trooper J.D. Richards was then notified of the information and subsequently notified Calhoun County Sheriff Graham Knight of a potential mental hygiene.

On that same date, at approximately 8 p.m., Trooper Richards and Sheriff Knight traveled to Orma with a Westbrook employee to evaluate the accused. Once the officers arrived on scene, the Trooper spoke with Turner’s mother and inquired as to where her son was. She replied that he wasn’t at the residence but had taken a pickup truck with FARM USE on the back and left the residence.

On the same date, at approxiamtely 8:50 p.m., Trooper Richards and Sheriff Knight witnessed headlights from further down Road Run Road approach the residence.

Trooper Richards had prior knowledge that Adam M. Turner’s operator’s license was revoked for DUl with a conviction on 10/02/23 for aggravated DUI. The accused’s license was formally revoked on 11/14/23 due to this conviction. Turner was driving a dark green in color Dodge Dakota with a FARM USE registration.

At approximately 8:42 p.m. Adam Turner pulled into the driveway on Road run Road and as soon as the vehicle stopped, Trooper Richards made contact and identified himself. The overwhelming odor emanating from the accused of alcoholic beverage was noticed as well as an open container of Natural Light – Ice in the center console. Trooper Richards noticed blood-shot watery eyes from the accused, and a confused, uncoordinated demeanor and not having good balance stepping out of the vehicle. Trooper Richards then arrested Turner for Driving While Revoked for DUI and placed him in the back of Sheriff Knight’s cruiser where he was then transported to the WVSP Grantsville Detachment to be processed.

At approximately 9:48 p.m., Trooper Richards and Sheriff Knight arrived at the WVSP Grantsville Detachment with the accused and the Trooper led Turner into the State Police barracks. A PBT was conducted indicating a significant amount of alcohol and Standardized Field Sobriety Test which included horizontal Gaze Nystagmus, Walk and Turn, and One leg Stand. From these tests, the Trooper deduced that the accused was significantly impaired.

On the same date, at approximately 9:50 p.m. Trooper Richards presented and read the accused his WVSP Form 47A – Impied Consent Statement, to which he signed. A Secondary Chemical Breath Test on the accused indicated a BrAC of 0.180. The accused then accumulated new charges for DUI (2nd) with a previously stated prior conviction.

All acts occurred in Calhoun County, WV.
